Bad customer experience at Derry Cycle, Derry NH

Yesterday I went to http://derrycycle.com
I won't make that mistake again.
I needed some stuff done and parts for my 2001 Yamaha Banshee
I went in and bought a new front tire, a set of rear brake pads and an air filter.
I had them remove the original tire and mount the new one.
They had me pay for some items at the parts desk and the service at the service desk. I just signed the receipt, never looked at the amount. This, I believe is the root of the problem.
I took my parts and returned an hour later to pick up the newly mounted tire.
Dude said 25 bucks, said ok, paid him and looked at the receipt, I assumed I already paid for the tire at the parts desk.
Jump in my truck and leave and head home, about 20 miles away.

Later I'm on my way out with my wife and kids. I do not have my wallet or Credit Cards with me. I get call from the service tech Craig saying he needs me to pay for the tire, I say I can't cause I don't have any CC's with me. I try to tell him that I'll take care of it later, but he's very stressed. I can't do anything at this point so I tell him to get in contact later. Within 20 minutes I get a voice mail from the service tech telling me that he is calling the cops because I knowingly stole the tire from that shop. Nice. It's my fault their bad procedures allowed me walk out of there without paying for the tire. Is it my job to make sure they bill me correctly? I think its their job. Why do I have to check the receipts to see if they billed me right?

Next their sales manager Ken calls me on my cell, like I got nothing better to do than talk to these guys on my night out with the family. I tell him I'm upset and that I'd like to talk to his general manager, he says he is the general manager, I say I thought you were the sales manager.... I tell him I'll speak with the owner, he tells me the owner never speaks with anyone. Ken wants me to pay too, but I don't have my CC's... again, they can't seem to comprehend this. I tell him I was offended by the other guys "cops" and "stole" remarks and that I intend to pay them back I just can't right now. Conversation goes on and Ken tells me that the other guy didn't actually contact the cops and that if the cops do come to my house he'll give me the choice of any ATV in their lot. Well that sounds good to me, can I get that in writing...? He says sure, I say OK, I'm gonna drive back up there now to get the letter. Conversation ends.
Ken calls back and tells me that he spoke to the owner and the "free" atv offer is not gonna fly, well, geeze I'm so surprised.

So, now I've spent time dealing with these 2 jokers and neither one of them seems to have any credibility, and yet, I'm the criminal. One makes threats and the other makes promises he can't keep. Y

Finally, Ken tells me that they are open on Sunday, I say fine, I'll go back up and pay them then. I don't want to do this over the phone now because I want to be sure I get a receipt.

2pm ish Sunday Jan 24 I arrive at the store.
There is a sales dude on the floor, some old dude, some older woman, some parts guy and some guy at the sales desk. I go up to the counter and say can I return these items.
I'm so fed up I just want to pay for the tire and return the other crap, I don't want to give them any business at this point.
They say, you're the tire guy right? I say yes. They say you can't return those items until you pay for the tire. I say why not. They say 'cause I'm just gonna return them and leave without paying for the tire.
Can I just say again, that I don't believe I gave them any reason not to trust me. And they don't trust me. Why would I drive all the way up there and not pay for the tire? So, now I'm trying to argue with them that I want to do the return first because I feel they will not refund the parts if I pay for the tire. Why should I trust them at this point?
20 minutes of arguing ensues.
The old guy keeps butting in telling me how absurd I am. I ask him, are you the owner, he says no, then I say well stay out of it then. He does for a few minutes but then he starts jumping back in on me.
The sales guy gets up about 3 times flinging things into the air yelling you're fuckin' ridiculous.
The older woman stays calm, but discredits me and continues to go on and on about how bad I am. Perhaps she's the owner? I have no idea why she'd be there otherwise.
Finally after about 20 minutes of getting attacked by the old dude, older woman and sales guy I get them to credit the return of the 2 items and I pay them $10.05 to make up the difference on the tire.

So please don't give these people any money. Don't buy parts from them, don't buy machines from them. If you do, and they do something wrong, they're gonna do everything they can to ruin your weekend.

I can't believe 3 people, 2 employees for sure harassed me for 20 minutes over a 70$ item that I always said I would pay for from the initial conversation. I've never dealt with such a paranoid and suspicious bunch of people in my life. And one wonders why the ATV crowd has such a bad reputation. Wonder no more. The people of Derry Cycle are the answer.

Windows 7 God Mode!?

Someone has some smarts over there.
Create a directory on your hard drive somewhere and name the directory
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Nice MS, I give you some props for this one. Although I'm sure it will be gone soon in some stupid update.

Gitmo

Yeah, lets close Gitmo by sending it's inmates back where they came from.
This will let them train and attack us again.

Totally logical.

Oil again

What is it today? mid 80's? Why aren't the bush bashers making the same argument about obama? If oil went up during the bush administration to make "W" and "Big Oil" richer... why is it going up now?

How stupid is the windows 7 explorer shell?

Ah, the new treeview... it's a good time!
If you click on a + to expand a node, it scrolls, GREAT Idea... now if I want to collapse it, I have to move my mouse and scroll to try to find it again. I give this a 0 on the 1 - 10 scale of good moves. Did Ballmer come up with this one? Whats better is that this applies to other apps that use the treeview too. Can You say MS SUCKS?

How about the good old find file if you right click on a folder? Oh, wait, that doesn't even exist now unless you install the windows search component. Brilliant. Why the fuck do I need windows search if I only want to search in "this" folder? I know why... Cause MS realizes I'm too stupid to know any better. Whats worse is the search sucks anyway. 1/2 the time I'm looking for something it can't find it. Yet, if I use something like UltraEdit and search in files / folders there it is... Cygwin command line utils can find it... but low and behold, MS and all their wisdom and bloat can not find it.

Here's another good one. "Pin to start menu" Lets say you have an app that takes some command line arguments and you need to configure it more than 1 time and want a shortcut to it to show up in your start menu. Good luck. MS realizes you're stupid and it decides to modify 1 of them and makes it identical to the other. Now you have 2 items that do the same thing. Boy, that's handy. Now try to find where MS saves this shit on the Hard Disk... You'll end up perusing a ton of folders that you don't have access too and things like "web" "local low" "roaming" "internet explorer". Now, why the fuck would a shortcut show up in a location like these? Great naming conventions MS.
Here's where my shortcut to my favorite text editor UltraEdit goes.
C:\Users\userX\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\StartMenu. Yup. Shortcuts to text editors should definately go under Internet Explorer. FOR CHRISTS SAKE!
By the way... why is there a "Documents and Settings" and a "Users" folder? 2 is better than 1?

Ever use the window button? It's great. You hit the window button and you start typing the name of something you want to run. However, if what you type is not in some mythical list of shit MS has decided to index, yet it is in your path, MS won't know what to run. Very useful piece of shit UI you guys got here.

How about the task bar? You use to be able to right click on a button (running app) and with your left hand hit c on the keyboard. This would close the window. Nice, easy... Now, it's way better. You can right click on it. Move your mouse to the left or up and then click on the "close window" thing, great... more moves to do the same job. I love being less efficient. It's the MS way.

Oh my god, I could go on, but this venting has already helped me so much.

Hey Steve. If you haven't realized it yet... the reason that Mac came back so hard is that they based their os on unix and it's organization. Can you say Organization? It's not just a place you work. It's how you should work.

Gas and oil prices

OK, why is it the day the cost of oil goes up, the cost of gas goes up?
And, the day oil goes down, gas doesn't change, sometimes for weeks?

Lets ask our politicians...

Microsoft's EventLogging / ReportEvent Crap

Ever use this?
GOD, I can't stand it. It's way too hard/complicated!
Check out this thread
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.platformsdk.shell/msg/f9ac204586e26265
Pretty much sums up the whole damn mess.

Oh MS, when will you learn.
When will the market shift enough so I can start working on a better platform?
